West Challow has a very large oak tree to the west of the village hall, next to the footpath which leads to the B4001 or Childrey Road. In fact it has been recognized as a “notable” tree and added to the Woodland Trust’s Ancient Tree Inventory. You can find details of it here.

On the basis that oak trees grow at about 18mm a year the tree with a girth of 3.91metres, might be about 200 years old.
