Running along the southern edge of the village is the historic Wilts and Berks Canal, once an essential route for transporting goods across the region.

The Wilts and Berks Canal Trust (WBCT) was formed in 1977 as a charitable organisation working to preserve, conserve and improve the route of the Wilts and Berks canal.

In 2017, a 30 year lease was agreed, providing the WBCT access to the section of canal at West Challow, with the intention to restore the canal for the benefit of the local community.
