St Laurence Church – Request for Volunteers
St Laurence Church has been very fortunate with the volunteers helping to run it. Very sadly, Sally Luther is moving from the village so will be giving up her role as treasurer and Ann Brown will be standing down as church warden due to her other commitments.
We are preparing to embark on a busy period for St Laurence as the church is refurbished (and we raise the money to do so). This is going to stretch our people resources to the limit. We are therefore looking to villagers to help run the church in practical ways, faith is not a prerequisite. Support would be welcomed in these areas:
Treasurer:
The treasurer’s role involves maintaining the books and records for the church’s finances, putting together budgets, paying bills, banking collections, making gift aid claims, and production of simple year end accounts. Sally has kindly offered to assist with the handover.
Church Warden:
There are two church wardens for St Laurence. Their role includes being guardians of the fabric of the church and churchyard. Leonora can advise about the specifics should you be able to help in this way.
Parochial Parish Council members (PCC):
PCC member/s – the PCC meet 3 or 4 times a year to make decisions pertaining to the church.
Secretary:
The secretary takes the minutes of the meetings, produces agendas and maintains the records. This role is currently shared between Ann and Caroline, who hope to focus on grant applications for the refurbishment.
If you can help in any of the roles or would like to find out more, please contact The Rev Leonora Hill, revd.lahill@btinternet.com, or any of the PCC members (listed below). We very much hope that help will come forward to keep our beautiful church open for many years to come.
