Westmill Wind and Solar 2023 OPEN DAY Saturday 10th June 1:30-5:30pm
We are excited to announce that we are hosting an Open Day this summer! This is to be a fun day for all the family celebrating community energy and how you can make a difference.
To celebrate community-owned energy, there will be a schedule of presentations and workshops for visitors together with a range of engaging activities for all ages. You’ll have to chance to experience one of our on-site tours. And there’ll also be live music, food and refreshments and much more!
We would love you to join us at Westmill to help celebrate what has been achieved with community-owned energy and to see how you too can make a difference!
2023 Open Day Programme of Events
1:30pm — Gates open to the stirring drums of Oxford Taiko
- WeSET will open the talks with an introduction to our education and community engagement programmes. Talks will continue throughout the afternoon introducing some innovative environmental programmes that support carbon neutral goals to the development of Westmill and community owned energy for the future.
- Regular on site tours commence with a chance to get up close and inside one of the 5 wind turbines and see the 21,600 solar panels and see how much electricity they are producing
3:00pm — Professor Slug’s House of Bugs will entertain the children with an interactive puppet show, more usually performed in a theatre. Children will have the chance to meet the puppets and probably some of the real life inspiration for the show in the protected wildflower margins around the farm.
5:00pm — Music from the Brass Follies
All Afternoon —
Display kite flying, another great use of wind or children can try their hand at making and flying their own kites
The National Trust and WeSET will host a range of fun children’s activities linked to the environment and science around us
We look forward to welcoming you to Westmill. Please note this is an operational energy infrastructure site; your health and safety is our utmost priority, as well as you having a fun day out with us.
